Violinist Andres Cardenes, who serves as Director of Orchestral Activities at CMU, will play David's Stock's Philosopher's Stone with AliaMusica directed by Federico Garcia de Castro on Chatham University in the Music Center on May 4th, 2018 . Federico and Andres remember their colleague David Stockin this conversation and explain the goal of Aliamusica, where the name of the ensemble comes from, and much more. The program includes Varese, Lutoslawski, Erin Rogers, John Arrigo Nelson, and a new piece by Federico.

Pittsburgh Public Theater Producing Artistic Director Ted Pappas steps away from his post after nearly a quarter century of artistic work in the city with a final effort directing Shakespeare’s Hamlet. He fills us in the production at the O’ Reilly Theater and recalls some great moments from his time in Pittsburgh and his career including his work with Al Pacino.
Leslie Amper, who graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in Pittsburgh studying with Natalie Phillips, played with the Pittsburgh Symphony and won the Pittsburgh Concert Society auditions and now lives in the Boston area with her husband pianist Randall Hodgkinson. She teaches at the Longy School, Harvard, and New England Conservatory Preperatory School but she’s back in town to present "Shared Inspirations: Claude Debussy, Alice Guy Blaché, and the Impressionist Painters." The concert takes place April 22nd at the Frick Art Museum in Point Breeze at 2pm.
